Famous Restaurants

Maxim's

When it comes to French restaurants, perhaps no other is more famous than Maxim's. Maxim's is a Paris landmark as the Folies Bergere and the Eiffel Tower. Dining at Maxim's means you will be eating at the same restaurant many heads of state and the most famous celebrities of the 20th century go to. As you might expect, it is really expensive, and even if the food cannot possibly meet your expectations, the adventure can be worth it. After all, few restaurants in the world can honestly claim to be more famous than Maxim's.

Le Chantecler is one of the most famous restaurants on the Riviera. Located in Nice, this restaurant is unique because of the way it uses seasonal dishes. The interior is traditionally elegant: there's a carousel of ponies trotting above some tables. The menu features such extremely French choices as foie gras, truffles and duck confit. For dessert, try the incredible things that the pastry chefs can do with chocolate.

Les Trois Marches

Not nearly as famous as the Versailles palace near which it is located, Les Trois Marches is quite well known. If you really want the pleasure of enjoying French food near one of the most amazing sites in France you have to expect to pay for the privilege, and the prices here are high. The dining room reflects the famous Hall of Mirrors at Versailles.  The prosciutto ham that dominates some meals here will have you wondering if you've ever eaten real prosciutto before, and ravioli stuffed with duck liver will definitely convert those who don't enjoy ravioli, duck or liver.
